Residents and businesses can enjoy the many benefits of living and
operating in North Louisiana, both in and outside the Monroe area. The
healthcare is excellent, area school districts are recognized for their
quality teaching staff, and the area provides many recreational
opportunities.
The hospitals and medical facilities in Ouachita Parish and
surrounding area have grown with the medical needs of the community. Glenwood Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Medical Center, North Monroe Medical Center and Lincoln General Hospital employ nearly 2,000 persons.
The Northeast region is home to three universities that not only
provide a broad curriculum, but research institutions that are the
catalyst for business start-ups and expansions. The University of Louisiana at Monroe, the Louisiana Tech University, and Grambling State University
have an enrollment of nearly 24,000 students in such degree programs as
business, pharmacy, finance, management, chemistry, nursing and more.
Monroe is also host to the rapidly expanding Louisiana Delta Community College. Louisiana Delta offers Associate degrees in Liberal Arts, General Studies, General Science, and Business Technology.

Students and residents of all ages have found that living in
Ouachita Parish is good. Safety is never a concern and housing options
are plentiful. Recreation can be found on the Ouachita River, area
parks and ball fields, and the Monroe Civic Center is host to a wide variety of events and activities.
